In August of this year I had the opportunity to photograph Tina, Rob, Julian, Bishop and their two dogs Alex and Indy. Tina and Rob wanted to have photos done because their older dog Alex had cancer and likely wouldn't be with them much longer. A week later, the day came when they had to put Alex down. In a very cruel twist of fate, they also received the worst news possible that same day. Bishop was diagnosed with liver cancer that had spread to his lungs.
The prognosis obviously was not good with such an advanced and aggressive form of the disease. The Make-a-Wish Foundation granted Bishop's wish to go to Disneyland and he also did get to go to his first day of school which was a huge highlight for Tina.
Sadly, Bishop succumbed to the cancer last Saturday. I can't imagine what his family must be feeling right now as there likely isn't anything worse than losing your five year old child. If it was me I would be turning it over and over in my head trying to find some sense in it- but there just isn't any.
A fundraiser has been organized for Thursday November 29th at 6PM at the Kilt and Caber in Mackenzie Towne. There will be a 50/50 as well as a silent auction. I will be donating a couple photo packages to the auction so if anyone is looking to get family or dog photos done this would be a great opportunity to do so and to help out a wonderful family who has been dealt more than their fair share of hardship.
Please contact me if you are interested in attending the event.
